It's been two years since the Patent Rules were overhauled and it has been a bumpy ride. We've experienced designated days, technical snafus, policy changes, and a new College – and it's not over yet.

Please join us as Jenna Wilson covers a variety of current issues in Canadian patent prosecution practice:

  • Fixing Patent Office errors: programming glitches and missing or delayed correspondence
  • Obtaining extensions of time
  • Agent representation and signature requirements
  • Due care reinstatement
  • Patentable subject matter

Jenna Wilson has more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law with a focus on patent drafting and prosecution. Her patent prosecution work emphasizes emerging technologies and subject areas that challenge the boundaries of current patent law, such as biotechnology and information technology. As a registered patent agent, she has drafted patent applications and procured patent rights for clients across a wide range of fields ranging from medicine to oil & gas to financial technology. Widely regarded as a thought leader and renowned for her in-depth knowledge of Canadian patent law, Jenna is a recent recipient of the 2021 Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) Outstanding Contribution Award for her significant contributions to the intellectual property community.
